Functional Integration® with Mary Szegda

Functional Integration® (FI) with Mary Szegda is hands-on bodywork that is also hands-on movement education—like a massage, but not a massage. You remain fully clothed, and while it is profoundly relaxing, the focus is on settling the nervous system, improving movement, and creating lasting change, rather than simply “blissing out” or fixing what’s wrong.

During a session, you are usually lying on a table, though sometimes seated or standing. Mary gently supports, mobilizes, or compresses your body, guiding small, subtle movements—sometimes rocking, sometimes still—and occasionally inviting you to move so you can notice how your body organizes itself. The work emphasizes self-care and improving what’s already working well, rather than focusing on deficits.

Mary’s unique approach to FI® is enhanced by her intensive study and experience with the fascial system, craniosacral system, and the energetic body, drawing on insights from yoga, Ayurveda, and core synchronism. Through years of working with these systems individually, she can sense their presence and mindfully bring them into the Functional Integration® session, enriching the experience while keeping the focus precise, grounded, and centered on your movement and awareness.

Feldenkrais work accesses the proximity of movement centers to emotional centers in the brain, allowing subtle guidance to create shifts not just in posture and coordination, but also in emotional and psychological patterns.

Each session is framed around your goals—whether that’s pain reduction, improved performance, emotional processing, or deep self-care. Through this unique combination of hands-on guidance, mindful attention, and energetic integration, you leave feeling grounded, balanced, and more capable in your body.
