Weekly Drop-In Class | 60 minutes + optional discussion
Reclaim the intelligence of movement — and rediscover the roots of the somatic field.
Long before we were talking about “resourcing” or debating the value of bilateral movement, Moshe Feldenkrais was applying his background in judo, hypnosis, yoga, and physics to help his neighbors in post-Holocaust Israel. Sometimes it seems he may have been the first trauma therapist — working directly with the nervous system through awareness, curiosity, and gentle movement.
This class offers psychology and mental health professionals an embodied introduction to Awareness Through Movement®, exploring how developmental patterns such as rolling, reaching, turning, and orienting shape our capacity for regulation, connection, and change.
Through guided sensory exploration, participants will:
Experience how movement and attention transform perception, posture, and emotional tone.
Sense into early developmental patterns that underlie attachment, regulation, and self-support.
Discover how Feldenkrais’ influence threads through the work of Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing®), Thomas Hanna (Somatics®), and Ron Kurtz (Hakomi®) — revealing nuances that can deepen your understanding of the somatic methods we study today.
This is an experiential class — not a training in techniques you can apply directly — yet the experience itself often enhances your ability to recognize childlike states, inhibited actions, and the subtle shifts that accompany embodied awareness.
Following each 60-minute class, you are welcome to stay for an optional 20–30 minute professional discussion to reflect on how the experience may inform your therapeutic work and personal integration.

🕰 When: Weekly, 60-minute class + optional 30-minute discussion
